Quick answer: Scalping takes many small, quick trades (seconds to a few minutes) on short charts. A simple Deriv scalping plan uses a 1-minute chart with EMA 9 and EMA 21: trade only in the direction the faster EMA points, enter on small pullbacks, take small profits and cut losses fast. Because every trade pays the house edge, scalping punishes overtrading; set a daily trade limit and loss limit.

Which Indices and Contracts Suit Scalping?

ChoiceWhy
Volatility 10 (1s) / 25 (1s)Smoother moves, easier to read
Volatility 75 / 100 (1s)Bigger moves, faster profit and loss
Multipliers with stop-lossClose any time, defined risk
Rise/Fall, 5–15 ticksFixed risk per trade
AccumulatorsSmall steps, take profit early

Compare indices in Volatility 10 and 25 and Volatility 100.

A 1-Minute EMA Scalping Plan

RuleSetting
Chart1-minute, one index only
TrendEMA 9 above EMA 21 = buys only; below = sells only
EntryPrice dips to EMA 9 and the next candle closes back in the trend direction
ExitSmall fixed target or 3–5 candles, whichever first
StopBelow the pullback low (multipliers) or fixed stake (options)
LimitsMax 20 trades, stop after 3 losses in a row or −5% for the day

Position Size for Scalpers

Because you trade often, keep each trade small: 0.5–1% of the balance. Twenty trades at 5% each can lose half an account in one bad session; see the risk management guide.

The Overtrading Trap

The house edge is paid on every trade. The more trades you take without a real edge, the more the small costs add up. Scalpers who survive take fewer, better trades and stop when their limits say so.

Bots and scalping: a Deriv bot can follow scalping rules without emotion, but it can also overtrade at machine speed. Always set take-profit, stop-loss and a maximum number of runs.

Risk warning: Trading Deriv products such as digit options, multipliers and synthetic indices is high-risk. You can lose all the money you deposit, quickly. No bot, signal or strategy can guarantee profit, and past results do not predict future results. Practise on a demo account first, only trade money you can afford to lose, and check that Deriv is allowed where you live. This guide is education, not financial advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is scalping in trading?

Taking many small, quick trades that last seconds to minutes.

What is the best scalping strategy for Deriv?

A simple trend-following plan on a 1-minute chart, such as EMA 9/21 pullbacks, with strict daily limits.

Which index is best for scalping on Deriv?

Calmer indices (V10, V25) are easier to read; faster ones (V75, V100) move more but are riskier.

Is scalping profitable?

Only with a real edge and discipline; overtrading usually loses because each trade pays the house edge.

How much should I risk per scalp?

Around 0.5–1% of your balance per trade.

Can I scalp with a bot?

Yes, but set take-profit, stop-loss and run limits so it cannot overtrade.
