Quick answer: The Bull Market Index and Bear Market Index are Deriv Daily Reset Indices. The Bull index tends to rise during each day and the Bear index tends to fall, then each one resets. In 20 full days of real data, the Bull index rose on 15 days (average +9.3% a day) and the Bear index fell on all 20 (average −8.7%). But Deriv prices that drift in: a 1-hour Rise on the Bull index paid $16.86 per $10, while a Fall paid $23.20.

How the Daily Reset Indices Work

The Drift Is Already in the Payout

Contract ($10 stake, 20 Oct 2026)Payout
Bull index, Rise, 1 hour$16.86
Bull index, Fall, 1 hour$23.20
Bear index, Rise, 1 hour$22.03
Bear index, Fall, 1 hour$17.54
Volatility 100, Rise, 1 hour (no drift)$19.61

Trading with the drift wins more often but pays less; trading against it pays more but wins less. To profit on a Bull 1-hour Rise you must win more than 59% of trades (10 ÷ 16.86). Over 5 ticks the drift is too small to matter: Rise paid $19.37 and Fall $19.70.

Contracts Available

On 20 October 2026 the API listed Rise/Fall, Rise/Fall Equal, Higher/Lower, Touch/No Touch, Ends Between/Outside, Stays Between/Goes Outside and Digits for the Bull index. Multipliers and accumulators were not listed.

How to Approach Them

  1. Check the payout for both directions before every trade; the gap tells you how strong Deriv expects the drift to be.
  2. Avoid very short trades if your idea is “trade with the drift”; the drift barely shows in a few ticks.
  3. These indices move fast, so keep stakes small.
  4. Test your idea on demo for at least 100 trades.

No bot, signal or strategy can guarantee profit, and past results do not predict future results.
