Deriv Jump Indices (Jump 10–100): How the Jumps Work and How to Manage the Risk

Quick answer: Deriv Jump indices (Jump 10, 25, 50, 75 and 100) move like a volatility index with the stated volatility, plus sudden jumps up or down. Deriv describes jumps as happening on average about three times an hour, much larger than normal moves, with equal chance up or down. Because a jump can go either way, the only reliable defence is a stop-loss and small size.

Risk Rules for Jump Indices

  1. Always place a stop-loss before entry. A jump can skip far past a mental stop.
  2. Risk at most 1% of your balance per trade.
  3. Avoid stacking several trades in the same direction.
  4. Trade the minimum volume on demo for at least two weeks.

A Demo Practice Plan (One Week)

  1. Day 1: watch Jump 25 and Jump 75 for an hour; count the jumps you see.
  2. Day 2–3: place demo trades with stop-losses set before entry.
  3. Day 4: measure how far jumps move past your stop (slippage).
  4. Day 5–7: adjust size so one jump never costs more than 1% of the balance.

No bot, signal or strategy can guarantee profit, and past results do not predict future results.
