Deriv Over and Under Strategy: How the Contract Works and How to Trade It Carefully

Quick answer: An Over/Under contract on Deriv predicts whether the last digit of the final tick will be over or under a number you choose (the barrier). "Over 2" wins if the last digit is 3–9 (7 of 10 digits), so it wins more often but pays less. "Over 7" wins only on 8 or 9, so it pays much more. Strategies change the barrier to balance win rate against payout, but every barrier has the same built-in house edge.

How Over/Under Works on Deriv

Each tick of a synthetic index has a price, for example 1234.56. The last digit is 6. When you buy "Over 4" for 1 tick, you win if the last digit of the next tick is 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9.

Over 78–92High
Under 80–78Low
Under 70–67Low
Under 50–45Medium
Under 20–12High

Deriv shows the exact payout before you buy. In every case the payout is set slightly below the fair odds; that difference is the house edge.

Popular Over/Under Strategies

Over 2 / Under 7 (high win rate)

Wins about 7 times in 10 on average but pays little per win. One loss wipes out the profit of several wins, so streaks matter.

Digit-pattern entry

Wait until the recent digits show a pattern (for example, several low digits in a row) before entering. A digit analysis tool counts how often each digit appeared. Remember: each tick is independent; patterns describe the past, they do not force the next digit.

Recovery switching

Some bots switch from Over 2 to a higher-paying barrier after a loss to recover. This raises risk; cap it.

How to Trade Over/Under on Deriv

  1. Pick a synthetic index (e.g. Volatility 10 or 100 Index).
  2. Choose Digits → Over/Under and set the barrier.
  3. Set the duration (1–10 ticks) and the stake.
  4. Check the payout, then buy. Or set the same rules in a bot with a stop-loss.

Over/Under Analysis Tool

H-BOT Africa's Scanner and Digit Sync show live last-digit frequencies across markets so you can test entry rules on demo. See digit analysis tools explained.

Test it properly: run any Over/Under rule for several hundred demo trades and record the win rate and the largest losing streak before going live.

Risk warning: Trading Deriv products such as digit options, multipliers and synthetic indices is high-risk. You can lose all the money you deposit, quickly. No bot, signal or strategy can guarantee profit, and past results do not predict future results. Practise on a demo account first, only trade money you can afford to lose, and check that Deriv is allowed where you live. This guide is education, not financial advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Over/Under work on Deriv?

You predict whether the last digit of the final tick will be over or under your chosen barrier.

What is the best Over/Under strategy on Deriv?

No strategy removes the house edge. Lower barriers (Over 2, Under 7) win more often but pay less; use small stakes and a stop-loss.

What does Over 2 mean on Deriv?

The contract wins if the last digit is 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9.

Is there an Over/Under analysis tool?

Yes. Digit analysis tools such as H-BOT Scanner show recent digit frequencies; they describe history, not the future.

How many ticks should I use for Over/Under?

Digit contracts settle on the last tick of 1–10 ticks; the number of ticks does not change the odds of a digit.
